Yesterday i got out, started to head down to the village, i went to the obligatory jelly donut tha the rockafeller center dunkin donuts (the one on the concorse, by far the best in the city) and went down to the platform, and to my surprise there running the original subway trains which was fun, it reminds me of the streetcars in New Orleans. Fun times.


No More 99 Below

I went to my traditonal pre-show beer at 99 below @ 99 Macdugal (postumus shameless plug for my favorite bar) and found that it had been shut down for building safty problems. Its a shame that was my first bar that I frequented when i moved to New York, i had been looking forward to haveing the party there when i signed for the travel channel show. Hopefully they can get the problems solved. I was heartbroken, my day was shatterd, then i realized there were 50 other bars on that block, so i went next door.

I went searching for a new bar to call home in the absence of 99 below, i went accross the street to the Macdugal street ale house, the drinks were a dollar cheaper, bonus, but the crowd sucksn there is only so long i can maintain a conversation with simply the words "dude, bro, awsome, and yo" so i will be going elsewhere.

A couple of months ago i read an article in The Economist "Lone Star Riseing", among other things it touched on something that i already knew, a large portion of texas is liberal, gay friendly, non-pickup truck driveing, democrat, nice people. (although some more courious parts of texas culture still thrive within this blue texas, a quick stroll through the parking lot at the Galleria and you will be shocked that apparently JC Whitney makes a gun rack for the Toyota Prius).

(by the way, i just decided to coin the phrase "gun rack democrat" to describe texas democrats, i want a nickle anytime the phrase is utterd)

Anyway,
Despite this knowlage, i was shocked to learn that today Houston became the first major city in america to elect an openly gay mayor. I have a lot of faith in Houston, but dammit, Houston never ceases to amaze me. Further truth that houston is going to drag texas to a blue state.

Best buy- union square

Oh hevanly sight I gazed upon this very day, as my journey in serch of elusive laptop perfection took me to union square, i stumbled upon a newly minted Best Buy resideing in place of a lesser, departed electronics retailer. Just as i was to make entery with all haste i noticed there was a marker upon the entery way indacateing that the hours of operation were infact endless. Thus one of my wildest dreams broke true his very day, and i would now be allowed to aquire electronic devices and entertainment media without regard to what hour it may be. As i conclude this electronic corraspondance, i wipe a single tear of joy that sprung forth from my eye and contenue on a life that from this day on will surely be that much more joyous.

Italian bike ride / travel channel show update/ 11-0

So ive been invited to go to naples for three months this summer, which should be enough time to get some serious cycleing in, and a good excuse to buy a new bike (bianchi, because if you are going to bike accross italy, might as well be on an italian bike, even though they are still buolt in china like nearly all bikes). Also finnally will get to go see pompeii, which has been an obsessian of mine since i was six.

Havent totally settled on a fourth host for the travel channel proposal, but have started the legal bs to establish ownership of the project. Also Pj is also signed on as possable producer (yay!)

Watched Star Trek last night. Seariously, its awsome. I forgot how awsome. The awsomeocrocy of it is awsome in its own right. When i first saw it i was all ready to be pissed off and dissapointed, i was excited by how dissapointed i was going to be. But it was so awsome, so perfect.

Chunky yet funky

This is Danny Lobell, I like to call him "The Chunkey, Yet Funky, Lobell" but in reality hes just fat. He once hosted a show for me, then left in the middle of the show to go eat dinner. Danny is "quasi Kosher" which means he has managed his enormous size without the aid of pork of anykind, a truely awsome achivement. Danny is the one who calls Mark "The Cobera" but he respects my athority in decideing to call him Mark. Danny once left the carcas of a turkey in his kitchen for a month. Danny can recite the location of the nearest dunkin donuts in within the five bouroghs 5/10's of a second faster than google maps. Danny does a lot of roadwork in Scotland and Europe, and secretly does something for a thing that is on tv that is incredably awsome, but i cant talk about it. but its awsome. He hosts Comical Radio, and stars in Rise of the Radio show

A daunting task

This afternoon, the mission laid before me is to turn 3 dead dell computers, 2 manged macs (an imac and G4) 3 monitors (not counting the one in the imac) into one working computer. The task will not be easy, and it will take time, commitment and hard work, so i rolled up my sleaves, put on my jacket, and went home to watch tv.

I was waiting for the A train at 34th street and i saw a crazy and/or homeless person doing the macherania (spelling?) on the oppisite platform, and a thought occured to me, whats it like to be crazy, i mean serious no attachment to reality crazy, not sheba mason crazy (ill get to that in a later blog, for non nyc comedian readers) but people who are comletely detached, is it fun? Is it like disney world? I mean to do the macherana (again spelling) in a public place when you smell like poop, you gotta be somewhere fun. Mabey crazy people have the right idea. Thats about when he sarted matrubateing, and i was like "oh yeah, thats why i keep working and paying bills, i like to keep my self gratification private". So good news everyone, I have decided to not become crazy.

Cupcakes and 30 Rock

So today i went to the GNC at rockafeller center to get some mega man vitamins, naturally the commitment shown to my health by buying uber overpriced vitamins means that i can indulge myself in magnolia cupcakes (plural) and a ciggertte, to my suprise they were filming 30 rock on 49th street, so i blew off my responabilities and watched for a while. The scene has a police motorcycle under the entrance that says rainbowroom and NBC. Nothing really exciteing.

I dont mean to sound gay...

Last night i was discussing the travel channel series with anthony, i was telling him that Joe Larson has a contact that will be helpful. Anthony then said "you know, i dont mean to sound gay or anything, but when ever i look at joe, i get lost in his eyes". Ok, there is a point where "i dont mean to sound gay" no longer exempts you from sounding gay. We gotta have limits on this, pretty soon guys are going to be like "I dont mean to sound gay, but i love to suck cock before breakfast" we gotta have limits on this stuff lest society decend into chos. At some point your just gay.

This morning i went to John Allen Saloon for a haircut, my first high end stylist cut. My hair dosent look magical or anything now, its just shorter. Like my barber used to do. I think ill go back to him next time.

Halloween weekend with Chuck Leonard and Katy Olson

So friday night Im doing shows, not planning to really go out, and Katy calls says she wants to go out in her costume in the village, so she meets me at my show, and we head downtown stopping at penn station for the trditional giant $3 beer and pizza pre drinking, we sit for a second katy decides that its a bit hot in there, but instead of takeing off her jacket, she accidentally unzips her costume, exposeing her bra to penn station, old katy didnt realize that classy girls only strip in the amtrak concourse, floozies strip in the LIRR area.

The next night, i met chuck out at Maries chrisis, we got drunk and retarded, i made chuck smoke ciggerettes, chuck made me go to the monster. i was so hungover the next morning that i passed out at a coffee shop in the village.

I love cycleing, occasionally ill work as a bike messenger in new york when i have free time or need money. Next summer i am bikeing cross country from new york to seattle, which will be a blast. also love going out drinking and cycleing.

Travel & Travel Channel Project

I am currently working on a project for the travel channel, its a series, a gay travel series, the idea has gotten a lot of intrest. it is a concept i came up with last November while waiting at the airportfor some friends returning from panama, i baised it loosely off The endless summer movie. basicall we would travel (there would be four regular hosts) but instead of talking about what we were doing in an informationl way, instead we would have the experience, then go back and narrate the experirence with what we were feeling. that narrition would become a blog on the shows website, and ultimately intergrated into an iphone app that would use GPS and explain to people what we were doing in any given show baised on there coordnance. i origanally came up with the concept as a way to travel with the guy i was seeing at the time and forward my carrer in other directions. the idea was put on the back burner because of personal problems, and ultamtely will include diffrent prople, i have brought back the idea, and have gotten a lot of intrest in getting this done, im very exited in this project i have a director from a show on the discovery channel intrested as well as a whole team who will help me prepare it for the pitch. and as I get closer to production i will blog about it more.

Comedy

I currently perform 7 nights a week, every night at the laff riot (49th and Broadway) and often other venus alover the city. I just sighned my first contract for a major tour that will start in boston in febuary. i will be touring with PJ Deboy and Thomas Dale, both very talented comics.
